Find your breath this Autumn

Autumn invites you to Stop, Breath and check in with Yourself! So this month (and for the next couple), I'm encouraging you to make a yummy pot of your favorite tea and to sit mindfully somewhere that inspires you, and ask yourself - How am I travelling so far in 2022? What could I do differently? How can I include more compassion and wellbeing in my life and the lives of those around me?

Take these wonderful 'pause' months in Autumn to reflect on the journey so far and consider what changes or inclusions might enhance your life for the better.

Some thought starters for your Autumn months could include:

  • Consider bringing down the fast-paced summer days a notch and giving yourself more wellbeing time on your own. (Leave the FOMO to others).

  • If your workout is feeling more demanding at this time, its because our body and energy levels are seeking more supportive exercise such as walks in nature, mindful yoga and meditation that invites us to notice how the body is going and other activity that gives us greater time to reflect such as swimming.

  • Be kind to yourself and others. As we reflect on our journey so far, we may experience negative feelings such as regret or guilt or worry. Include a daily meditation practice (even if its just 5 minutes) and consider using an App such as Insight Timer (free) to give you a regular calming pause each day. A loving gratitude meditation is an excellent way to lift spirits and feel greater love for self and others.

  • Eat a little differently and include warmer foods and perhaps you will take more time to enjoy each meal with the slower pace of Autumn. As always eat seasonal foods and as many whole foods as you can. I love soups packed with tumeric, ginger and warming spices (cumin, coriander) and also consider making a hearty veggie packed Shepherds pie!

So from me to you, enjoy Autumn. Give yourself permission to slow down and smell the roses so to speak, or notice the incredible nature and life around you.
